The first SSEA Thematic Conference, “Self and Identity in Emerging Adulthood” took place in Cluj-Napoca, România between May 17 – May 19, 2018. The conference was hosted by the Department of Psychology, Babeș-Bolyai University and chaired by Dr. Oana Negru-Subtirica (Babeș-Bolyai University) and Dr. Elisabetta Crocetti (University of Bologna). The event was a tremendous success, as it brought together almost 140 researchers and practitioners from 31 countries, on 5 continents. The scientific program included 1 keynote address, 2 master lectures, 1 master workshop, 6 symposium, 12 paper sessions, and 30 poster presentations. The “Ask Arnett” event took place in the spectacular Turda Salt Mine and was especially memorable. (Visit our photo gallery here) The Self and Identity Thematic Conference marked the first SSEA conference outside the USA and we are glad to have brought together so many bright minds who are eager to understand the “Who am I?” core question of identity formation in emerging adulthood. Building on this success, there will soon be a Call for Proposals for possible thematic conferences in 2020. Keep an eye out for the announcement, coming soon!
