IDENTITY

Bringing Science to our Sidewalks - How Identity scholarship Can Enhance Community-Engaged Research and Partnership
Schedule: 9:00am-4:30pm
Abstract: The SSEA Identity Issues Topic Network is excited to host an innovative hybrid pre-conference workshop that will introduce registrants to the rich landscape of community-engaged research and partnership. As part of this pre-conference, participants will learn about the key principles of community engagement, recognize how identity-based expertise align with these principles, generate ways research can be combined with community-based practices to create a truly reciprocal partnership, and discuss new and emerging scholarship relevant to identity and community engaged-relations.
Additionally, this pre-conference will conclude with an interactive work session, where scholars are welcomed to submit works-in-progress for discussion, review, and feedback, and an informal networking event. More details of the event can be found here.

EMERGING SCHOLAR NETWORK

From Progress to Success: A Preconference for Emerging Scholars to Share, Discuss, and Develop their Works in Progress
Schedule: 1pm – 5pm
Abstract: The preconference aims to allow emerging scholars to receive feedback on works in progress, gain career-relevant knowledge, and establish networks with their peers. The works-in-progress sessions will provide emerging scholars with opportunities to share their work and receive answers to big questions they’re facing from their peers and senior academics. There will also be two sessions focused on early career development advice and the future of open science, followed by a casual networking event that includes drinks and nibbles.

SEXUALITY TOPIC NETWORK

New Directions in Normative Sexuality Development
Schedule: 9:00am -12:00pm
Abstract: This preconference will be a chance for researchers studying sexuality in emerging adulthood to meet, hear about the work of other researchers, and have a chance to network with other attendees. Activities will include a panel discussion about diverse perspectives on the study of normative sexual development, presentations from early career researchers, and a networking event.

DIVERSITY & EQUITY TOPIC NETWORK

Three Years After George Floyd’s Murder – A “Report Card” On The State Of Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion In Our Universities And Workplaces
Schedule: 10:00am - 3:00pm
Abstract: In this pre-conference workshop we will request for SSEA members to please submit a proposal to serve on a panel where a candid conversation will be had about the state of our workplaces and university spaces as they relate to DEI and a "post-Floyd" America. In addition, we will also focus on helping us work collectively towards anti-racist pedagogy. We will have our breakout sessions where we will all be encouraged to make a frank and honest review of our pedagogical materials towards creating a more inclusive and culturally competent curriculum.

PREVENTION INTERVENTION & PSYCHOTHERAPY TOPIC NETWORKS

Internet Addiction and Anxiety: Antecedents and Consequences
Schedule: 1:00pm - 4:30pm
Abstract: The workshop aims to foster collaboration and facilitate the sharing of knowledge among researchers and practitioners who specialize in the areas of internet addiction and anxiety among emerging adults. It will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to network, share experiences, and learn about effective interventions.


MENTAL HEALTH TOPIC NETWORK
