Michael J. Cleveland, Washington State University, USA

Dr. Michael J. Cleveland is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development at Washington State University. Previously, he was a Research Associate Professor in the Bennett Pierce Prevention Research Center at Penn State University and an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Michael’s research focuses on the etiology and prevention of alcohol and other substances during emerging adulthood, with a special interest in under-represented youth. He also has a long-standing interest in integrating prevention science with cutting edge methodology to inform the design of more effective and developmentally appropriate preventive interventions. Michael lives in Moscow, Idaho with his wife, Misha, and daughter, Josephine, who was born in 2016.
